Sole to Soul Running is a very special kind of running/walking group. No matter what your fitness level, you'll find the support you need to accomplish goals you never thought were possible!

We offer support if you're just starting out or an experienced runner or walker. It's a great time to run -- or learn to run -- or walk. This group is for YOU; no matter what your pace or experience, we think you're perfect!

Our Facebook page is your best source for up-to-date training and race information!

I'm not a certified coach or physician -- just someone who knows that running with wonderful people makes for a wonderful life.  Please see About Us for important information about my coaching skills (or lack thereof).

Here's the thing:  It may start with the sole, but it changes the soul!

We'd love for you to join us on our Saturday morning and race day adventures. See our Training Schedule each week for our meeting place and mileage.

Having a Great Time!
What does it really mean to have a great time?

As runners, we do pay attention to our time and how "fast" or "slow" we are.  We think about PRs and celebrate them.  We worry about taking "too long" to finish a training run or race.

We forget to be at peace with our pace!

Let's be clear: There is NOTHING WRONG with having goals, with wanting to be stronger or faster or feel better. That's why we train.  We find peace with our pace (whatever it is) becuase we know we're trying our hardest and doing our best.  I love seeing our Solemates strive for new victories!

The challenge comes when we lose perspective.

We MUST put our goals into context.  A race time might be a victory because we were faster. Or because we overcame a challenge that day. Or because we felt great at the end.  Or because we took the best pictures ever.  Or because we supported a friend.

This is vital because, honestly, no one else really cares about your literal time.  I promise you that, after completely 65 of these things, I have had true victories at every point on the clock. No. One. Cares.

What WE -- as Solemates -- care about is that you've done you're best.  You will ALWAYS be celebrated for that!  We do care about how we make each other feel.  So, in that light, I offer a couple "rules" of reporting your time.

1.  Always be proud of a race finish.  Fiinishing happy is a victory.
2.  Don't EVER complain that you were too slow.  Think about how that makes someone feel who was behind you.
3. Own your time.  You did it.  Lots of people couldn't do what you just did.
4.  Don't EVER be reticient to share a PR.  We are happy for you!  You inspire us!
5. Be your own best friend.  Don't say anything to yourself or about yourself that you wouldn't say to someone you care about.

Finally, make sure that you are, actually, having a good time!  Look around, appreciate the views, think about how you're doing this amazing thing, thank someone cheering you on, encourage someone else. ENJOY THIS!

I remember running the La Jolla Half many years ago, feeling a bit tired around mile 8.  A woman standing on the side of the road said to me, "Look at what you're doing!" She sounded awed.  I felt awesome.

Let that be your own voice in your own head.  It's time to shine!

Many of our members joined Sole to Soul to train for their first 1/2 marathon. Most of us never thought that running 13.1 miles was even possible when we first started training but, together, we learned that we could do it.

Our running motto is "At Peace With My Pace." I believe that with encouragement and support, you can cross the finish line -- still upright, smiling and ready to sign up for another adventure.

You can do this, too; please email me with questions!
