Finding the Courage to Continue

One of the best things about being a part of running group like Sole to Soul is that we focus on the time differently;
it's just the time on the clock. HOW we spend our time running matters.
Sure, that can mean going faster
-- challenges ourselves to improve our abilities.
And it also means that it doesn't matter what "faster"
means in relationship to anyone else's pace. As long as we're doing our best, we honor the spirit of the group when
we dig deep, conquer fears and cross the finish line, still able to summon a smile!
You all demonstrated that beautifully
at the 2016 San Diego Rock n Roll. There were so many Solemates, and just as many stories of personal triumph. Shirley
PRd by 49 minutes! Linda, Lesa, Karen and Tomorrow completed their first fulls. Nearly a dozen of us ran the half. Schuntay
and Fabiola relayed. Raquel, Lynette, Kristin, Ilianna and Teresa were out cheering.
The worth of the time you
spent yesterday is not just reflected in your medals; it is reflected in the faces of the people whose lives your touched
and changed with your support. You inspired each other. You helped each other. You made a difference.
At the end of the day, just when I thought I could not be more proud, I watched Tomorrow cross the finish line. She
overcame every obstacle and found the strength to keep going. She gave us a profile in courage that will help each of us on
our next tough run.
It was a long day. But it was, clearly, time well-spent.
Many of our members joined Sole to Soul to
train for their first 1/2 marathon. Most of us never thought that running 13.1 miles was even possible when we first
started training but, together, we learned that we could do it.
Our running motto is "At Peace With My Pace." I believe
that with encouragement and support, you can cross the finish line -- still upright, smiling and ready to sign up for another
can do this, too; please email me with questions!
