Sole to Soul Running is a very special kind of running/walking group. No matter what your fitness level, you'll find the support you need to accomplish goals you never thought were possible!

We offer support if you're just starting out or an experienced runner or walker. It's a great time to run -- or learn to run -- or walk. This group is for YOU; no matter what your pace or experience, we think you're perfect!

Our Facebook page is your best source for up-to-date training and race information!

I'm not a certified coach or physician -- just someone who knows that running with wonderful people makes for a wonderful life.  Please see About Us for important information about my coaching skills (or lack thereof).

Here's the thing:  It may start with the sole, but it changes the soul!

We'd love for you to join us on our Saturday morning and race day adventures. See our Training Schedule each week for our meeting place and mileage.

What Family Means to Sole to Soul

I've been thinking about our families -- our actual families and our Soul to Sole family, too.

This weekend in Mammoth, I was inspired by Gilbert walking the 5K with Maria (they are so cute!) and Israel running his first half with Vanessa.  I love that our Solemates are getting their soulmates in on the action!

It was amazing to see Carol's family at mile 5 and again at mile 10 -- and then I rounded the curve to see Hoss there with my sister and brother-in-law.  And, of course, my amazing niece, Jacque, who has always been my inspiration.

Our families support us in so many ways -- by giving us the time we need to train, getting up at the crack of dawn to drive us to a race, as Val's husband does, or simply by being proud of us!

Along the way, I think we all have become a special family in our own right -- and that what makes our group so truly wonderful.

I think of Drew, ready to rescue me at mile 10 of the SD Half in 2012.  I think of Kelly getting Maria through the last mile at Liberty station -- and then Maria doing the same for Carol in Mammoth.  I can hear the applause for Schuntay as we stood at the street corner in Bonita and welcomed her back.  I remember gathering at Pizza Port to celebrate Stephanie and Vanessa.  I am grateful for how Mary Beth has kept me going and how Melissa and Raquel inspire us to keep signing up for races. I have special memories for each and every one of our Solemates, and I am deeply grateful for your gift of friendship.

So to all of you -- my running family -- I send my thanks and love.  I just can't wait to see what we're all going to do together next.  There will be hills in our futures -- good times and tough runs. And we will be there for one another.

After all, that's what family is all about.

Start Your Training Now!
Yep.  You can start right now and be ready for a half marathon in October or November.  Really!

This week, June 22, we're starting a brand-new training cycle for those who want to run the Temecula Half or Nike Women's Half on Oct. 20.  On July 6, a new cycle will begin for the Las Vegas Rock n Roll on Nov. 17.

Signing up for an event is really a great way to make sure you commit to training -- and Sole to Soul will help you...every step of the way.

So... what does it take to train for a half?

First, commit to doing your longer runs with us on Saturday mornings.  We'll help you build up to the mileage in a safe and healthy way.  You don't need to be able to run straight through.  In fact, we recommend run/walk intervals for our new runners.  You can start right now by adding a minute or two of jogging to every two minutes of walking.  Try this for two to three miles, if you're walking that far already.

Then, plan on two training runs per week (three to four miles each) and one cross-training per week of at least 30 minutes of some kind of exercise.

Soon, you'll build up your endurance and find the pace that YOU'RE at peace with.

You can do it!  Check out our Facebook page for registation information on upcoming races.  Then... SIGN UP.  And discover how our amazing Solemates will be there for you as you accomplish your goals.

Many of our members joined Sole to Soul to train for their first 1/2 marathon. Most of us never thought that running 13.1 miles was even possible when we first started training but, together, we learned that we could do it.

Our running motto is "At Peace With My Pace." I believe that with encouragement and support, you can cross the finish line -- still upright, smiling and ready to sign up for another adventure.

You can do this, too; please email me with questions!
