The Holiday Spirit
To me, the picture really symbolizes what Sole to Soul is all about.

Yes, we are finishing a half marathon.
And, yes, that's one of the reasons we gather together every week to train -- to reach new goals -- to finish with a smile.
But that's only part of the story.
The rest -- the real story -- is that this race shows what we'll all
about. It was a day when our sweet Maria, who couldn't run, cheered from the sidelines. It was a day when Stephanie
and Vanessa flew through -- so fast and strong. It was a day when Elena showed such strength (you should have seen her
at mile 10 -- beautiful) and Bea inspired, never giving up, never ceasing to inspire us all.
For me, it was
a day when I hit the wall at mile 6. Hard. I really could have stopped (Maria AND the hotel were right there),
but Val stayed by my side and Raquel was our angel. Raquel kept moving, at peace with her pace! Val
and I walked (a lot) and just kept moving and reached that magical moment when we saw the finish.
saw something better. We saw Raquel. She waited for us so we could cross together.
Our runners are
amazing. Not just for how well everyone does or the time that we finish, but for our well we support each other and
the time that we spend helping others to finish.
This kind of support is a gift -- one that we give each other
every week -- one that I want to share with every person who believes that the true spirit of the holidays is the love we
find around us.
So, really, there's no reason not to sign up for something and then come on Saturday. We
will be there for you at the finish line.

A December to Remember
Wed, December 5, 2012 | link
Here's one thing we've all learned over the years:
If you want to ensure you'll train, you need to sign
up for something!!!!
With that said, let's have everyone pick a run. It could be the SD Half in March --
it could be the Electric Run 5K in February -- it could be both (I just got us wonderful light-up accessories for the Electric
Run, and the SD Half is a blast).
Whatever your goals, please know that we're here for you.
a doubt, this is the most wonderful, supportive, successful group I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of.
Let's run through December and start the New Year with new goals. And new accomplishments.
See you Saturday!
Many of our members joined Sole to Soul to
train for their first 1/2 marathon. Most of us never thought that running 13.1 miles was even possible when we first
started training but, together, we learned that we could do it.
Our running motto is "At Peace With My Pace." I believe
that with encouragement and support, you can cross the finish line -- still upright, smiling and ready to sign up for another
can do this, too; please email me with questions!
