All you have to do...
...is show up!
Sat, April 21, 2012 | link
We had a big group this morning -- which is thrilling! But even more wonderful is that each
our Solemates this morning ran or walked at her own pace and (I hope) felt supported and accomplished.
thrilling was hearing the excitement as we talked about getting into the Nike run (we hope); there was even some talk about
going to Hawaii next year. All of this from people who never thought they could do this at all.
you can see, there's a lot of hope in this message! That's because all you really need to get started is that spark of
hope and desire, that little flame that ignites your passion.
There are great things in store for our group.
And all you have to do to enjoy them is just show up and join us!

Running into the Wind
Some runs are tough!
Sat, April 14, 2012 | link
When you're first starting out, I think they all feel tough. And, as our run/walk intervalers
know, the first interval always sucks.
Does that sound too negative? It shouldn't.
the fact that it's challenge is part of what makes it such a triumph -- such a celebration. That is what is so inspiring
about a group that revolves around completion, not competition.
This morning, the wind was blowing so hard that
it felt like running uphill (new meaning to "hitting the wall"), but we pushed through -- each at our own pace and
sense of accomplishment.
I celebrate Nicole coming back today. For Rebecca completing her longest run, she
and Lisa making amazing time on their 11 miles. I celebrate Elena rallying the Rock n Rollers with her "Come on
Runners," at the start and the determination that she, Val and Bea showed in completing the course.
celebrate Vanessa's incredible gift of being a natural runner -- and Jayme and Wayne's determination and leadership.
I celebrate Nicole and Raquel -- Nicole for working through her injury and putting in seven safe miles and Raquel for (as
always) being the shining example of Sole to Soul Spirit walking by her side. And I celebrate Tomorrow -- it's so fun
to run with you; you really help keep me going.
So you see, it's okay that it was tough. We had each other.
And we triumphed!

April Showers (of Success)
Happy April, Everyone!
Sun, April 1, 2012 | link
This month, we are going to be showered with great fun runs and training opportunities.
If you're new to our group, please don't worry about what might seem like high mileages -- we're in the final stages
of training for the La Jolla Half and gearing up for San Diego Rock and Roll, but I always provide shorter routes, so runners
and walkers at every level are welcome.
Besides the Saturday runs you'll find in our Training Schedule, a few of
us are also meeting every Monday night at 5:30 throughout April at La Jolla Shores or Torrey Pines. Check our Facebook
page for details.
Every week, I am inspired by our members -- our support for one another and the joy of seeing
people accomplish things they never thought possible.
Come play with us! Our April "showers"
will bring a May that blooms with new successes!
Many of our members joined Sole to Soul to
train for their first 1/2 marathon. Most of us never thought that running 13.1 miles was even possible when we first
started training but, together, we learned that we could do it.
Our running motto is "At Peace With My Pace." I believe
that with encouragement and support, you can cross the finish line -- still upright, smiling and ready to sign up for another
can do this, too; please email me with questions!
